The bike tour from Furi to Schwarzsee is one of the most impressive routes around Zermatt.

The reason is simple:
The north face of the Matterhorn accompanies you throughout the entire tour – close, present and impressive.

The route is challenging, but the scenery is hard to beat.

The route in detail

The start is directly from the Hotel Hemizeus and continues to Furi – a central starting point in the bike and ski area.

From there, the trail initially climbs moderately through the forest. You pass the Zmuttbach reservoir and reach the Stafelalp.

The landscape opens up here – and the Matterhorn reveals itself in all its power.

The route becomes more varied as it progresses:

  • Changing gradients
  • Partly steep passages
  • wide gravel paths

The higher you get, the closer the Matterhorn seems.

The last section takes you to Schwarzsee at an altitude of around 2,583 meters – an impressive end to the tour.
