Journey to Zermatt

Already the journey through the Valais mountains is an unforgettable experience – whether by train or by car – enclosed you will find the most important information for your trip to the beautiful Zermatt.

How do I get to Zermatt by train?

We recommend the SBB app or the internet site https://www.sbb.ch/de for timetables and prices.

How do I get to Zermatt by car?

Zermatt is a car-free resort – you must park your car in the suburb of Täsch. There are several parking facilities there, here you can find some providers: https://www.zermatt.ch/anreise/Anreise-mit-dem-Auto

You will then reach Zermatt by shuttle train or by cab, which has a special permit to drive to the entrance of Zermatt.

Transfer to the hotel

The anticipation is rising, now you will soon have arrived! For your transfer from the train station Zermatt to our charming hotel there are several possibilities decide for yourself.

How do I get from Zermatt train station to the hotel?

  1. With the hotel shuttle: On arrival/departure we offer a free transfer with our electric vehicle from Zermatt train station to the hotel from 8 am-7 pm. You let us know as soon as you board the shuttle train to Zermatt in Täsch, then we arrange the transfer. On days with many arrivals and departures, waiting times may occur – we ask for your understanding.
  2. By public electric cab: If you leave before 8 am or need a cab in between, you can order a public cab, here are some providers: https://www.zermatt.ch/Media/Listen-Gewerbe/Taxis-in-Zermatt2. If you arrive after 7pm, public cabs are available at the station.
  3. By public free bus: At the train station in Zermatt there is a bus stop for the Winkelmatten bus (red line): https://www.e-bus.ch/home.html
    • Drive to the station Wichje.
    • Cross the big bridge and after 100 meters you will see a sign saying “Hotel Hemizeus”.
    • Turn right and right again – after about 30 m you will reach the hotel.
  4. About 25 minutes on foot:
    • From Zermatt train station, walk up Bahnhofstrasse through the village to the church and turn left.
    • You cross the church bridge and turn right at the end of the bridge.
    • Then walk straight ahead for about 1.1 km on Schluhmattstrasse, pass the valley station of the gondola lift and arrive again at a bridge.
    • Cross this bridge and after 100 meters you will see a sign saying “Hotel Hemizeus”.
    • Turn right and right again – after about 30 m you will reach the hotel.

How much does the transfer cost?

On arrival and departure we offer a free transfer with our electric vehicle from the train station Zermatt to the hotel between 8 am and 7 pm. Outside of this offer, a free transfer is unfortunately not possible.

How do I get from the hotel to the village of Zermatt?

However, you are welcome to use the following services to get to the village:

Electric cab

If you arrive later than 7pm or need transportation during your stay, you can order a public cab. Here is a cab list.

Bus

at the train station Zermatt you will find a bus stop for the Winkelmatten bus (red line).

  • drive to the station Wichje
  • from there you cross the bridge
  • after 100m you will see a sign “Hotel Hemizeus” – there you turn right and immediately right again, after about 30m you will reach the hotel

on foot

    • You walk up Bahnhofstrasse to the church and turn left in front of the church
    • You go straight over the church bridge and then turn right
    • You are now in Schluhmattenstrasse and walk up this road for about 1.1 km until you reach a bridge again (you will also pass the valley station of the gondola lift on the way)
    • You cross this bridge to the right
    • after 100m you will see a sign “Hotel Hemizeus” – there you turn right and immediately right again, after about 30m you will reach the hotel

Check in/out

With helpful information on check-in/out, you can reduce the time spent at the reception to a minimum and thus devote your free time to the activities in beautiful Zermatt to the greatest extent possible.

What are the check-in/out times at the hotel?

Check-in is possible from 15.00, we ask for a check-out by 10.30.

Is there a possibility of late check-in?

Yes, our reception is staffed until 9:30 pm. If you arrive later, please let us know in advance – we will then prepare everything for a self-check-in and put the necessary information at the reception.

Is there a possibility of a late check-out?

We are happy to check availability on site and if possible, you can check out later for an additional fee.

Can I leave my luggage with you if I arrive early or leave late?

Yes, you are welcome to leave your luggage at the reception free of charge.

Can I check in online in advance?

Yes, you will receive an email shortly before your arrival with important information and a link to the online check-in. Here you can already enter all the necessary address data, the names/birthdays of the persons traveling with you and also provide the signature. So the official check-in is already done before your arrival. On site we will give you the most important key data for your stay and from then on it’s: Vacation & relaxation in Zermatt.

Payment / Cancellation

A deposit is required to secure the booking, more information can be found here. We have also compiled our cancellation deadlines for you, should something unforeseen happen and you are unable to start your vacation.

Do we have to pay a deposit to fix the booking?

Yes, if you booked directly with us, a deposit of 50% of the stay is due by credit card or bank transfer on the day the free cancellation expires.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, bank transfer, EC card, Twint, Postcard, Mastercard, Visa, American Express.

How long before arrival can we cancel free of charge?

  • for stays 01.06. – 30.11.: until 7 days before arrival
  • for stays 01.12. – 30.04.: until 30 days before arrival

Extras in the hotel

Can you organize something for a special occasion?

We are happy to organize the desired attention for a birthday / wedding anniversary, etc. for an additional fee:

  • we decorate the table in the restaurant/room
  • we order a cake/pralines (at least one day before)
  • we create a voucher e.g. for a massage
  • we arrange a bouquet of flowers
  • we provide a bottle of wine/Prosecco/Champagne

Feel free to contact us in advance and we will find the right one together!

I have a dog - can I bring him?

You are welcome to bring your pet (dog/cat) for an extra charge of 15.- CHF/day. We will provide you with a special blanket.

Is it possible to have an extra bed in the room and what is the cost?

In the De Charme rooms without Matterhorn view and in the suites, sofa beds are available (intended for children only). The additional costs per child/night are incl. Breakfast as follows:

  • Children 0-8.99 years are free in the room with parents
  • Children 9-13.99 years are charged with 60,- CHF per child/night
  • Children 14-15.99 years are charged with 80,- CHF per child/night

We have a baby with us - do you have a baby crib and how much does it cost?

We are happy to put a baby crib in your room, this is free of charge.

We would like to have separate beds, is that possible?

All our beds can be arranged as single beds and also as double beds. Please let us know directly at the time of booking so that we can organize this before your arrival.

Weather

They say: the weather is what it is. True, but in Valais we can enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine per year and thus spend a lot of time outdoors in the beautiful mountain world skiing, hiking and biking.
